Welcome back!

Updated: Oct 4, 2021

Welcome (back) to a new year at UCL! In particular, welcome (back) to the LfA blog!

My name is Alice. You may remember me from writing various blog articles last year. This year, as well as writing some (hopefully interesting) blog articles, I will be taking up the position of Senior Blog Editor.

So, what is in store for the LfA blog this year? We will soon be recruiting a new blog editing team for the year (more about that later) to write an array of engaging blog articles on all things law. We are hoping to expand our legal blog-writing horizons, approaching topics from important commercial deals, to developments in the academic legal world, from tips and hints for securing a training contract, to discussions about international human rights.

We are also looking to collaborate with the LfA podcast, enabling you to keep on top of legal news using various media. Like last year, we will have a particular focus on our sponsors, so keep up to date with the blog if you are interested in applying for vacation schemes or training contracts with Herbert Smith Freehills, DLA Piper and/or Jones Day.

If you want to go one step further than following the blog, you will soon be able to apply to become a blog editor! There are no specific criteria for becoming a blog editor: you do not need any writing experience, and, in the spirit of LfA, you by no means need a legal background. We are simply looking for a group of committed people with an interest in any aspect of the law to write some great articles. After all, we need more content than just my ramblings about my own legal interests. As well as having the opportunity to build on your legal knowledge, you will be able to meet the committee, be prioritised for moots and oversubscribed LfA events, become a guest speaker on the LfA podcast, judge blog writing competitions and more! If you have any questions about becoming a blog editor, please email me (alice.hart.20@ucl.ac.uk) and I will be happy to help.

Once again, welcome back and best of luck with the new academic year!
